Senator Reid Pushes For Redskins Name Change

(Washington, DC) -- Harry Reid is asking the NFL to follow the NBA's lead when it comes to racism and force the Washington Redskins to change their name. The Senate Majority Leader says NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell needs to take action as NBA Commissioner Adam Silver did.
Use of the name Redskins has become a polarizing topic as to whether it is offensive to Native Americans. Redskins owner Dan Snyder has said he has no intention of changing the team's name. The NBA commissioner, meanwhile, issued a lifetime ban to Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling this week for racist comments about African-Americans in a leaked audio recording.
