Southland Lawmaker Wants Obamacare For Undocumented Immigrants

(Sacramento, CA) -- Undocumented immigrants are specifically excluded from healthcare benefits provided by the federal Affordable Care Act, but a Los Angeles County state Senator wants to change that, at least in California. Huntington Park Democrat Richard Lara says he's going to introduce a bill that would expand eligibilty for coverage through California's health insurance exchange to all residents of the Golden State, regardless of their immigration status. Lara says an estimated one-million immigrants living illegally in California do not have health insurance.
